Using FME to Manage Non-Spatial Data
Presentation Details
While FME is widely known for its ability to extract/transform/load spatial data, it can also be very useful in working with non-spatial data. Central San manages multiple non-spatial databases that are related to our GIS systems. I’ll share how we have successfully used FME Desktop and Server to maintain portions of our Cityworks computerized maintenance management system and ITpipes CCTV inspection system databases. I’ll also show how we used FME to assist in the migration of a decade’s worth of CCTV inspection data into the new ITpipes system. During that migration we encountered a few obstacles in working with Microsoft Access databases; I’ll discuss how we overcame those obstacles.
