NRCAN Cartographic Standards Validation
Presentation Details
Natural Resources Canada has upgraded the standard they use for mapping projects this past year from a Microstation-based drawing format to a File Geodatabase. This impacted the format and structure that contractors working for NRCAN now deliver data in. In 2018, a basic FME-based validation toolkit was implemented to ensure that data submissions were done according to the new structure and schema. The tools produce useful reports highlighting the data that
does not meet the standard as a result of saving time in the data review process for Natural Resources Canada.
