FME: The Catalyst for a Multi-Participant Hazardous Spills Database for Peel Region

In 2009, three municipalities comprising the Peel Region joined forces with two Conservation agencies to fund the development of a Spills Decision Support System to protect their 10 million population and threatened environment from hazardous materials [500 incidents a year]. The supporting database, hosted entirely by Peel Region on Oracle Spatial, includes topography, thoroughfares, all properties, hydrology, sub-surface storm sanitary and water systems throughout the 2,000 sq km region.
