Presentation Details

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has revolutionized our ability to provision infrastructure that supports data services. AWS has not only made infrastructure and automation more accessible, but it has provided higher levels of service abstraction including their managed database product Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS). Many organizations can readily benefit from using higher level services like RDS as they greatly simplify implementation time, improve security, and dramatically cut ongoing management and operations time. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo GIS Department uses AWS to separate their internal and external application environments for security and separation of workload. To keep the external environment data current, Tesera developed a solution to replicate their ESRI Geodatabase from their local SQL Server to a remote Amazon RDS instance.
