Putting Environment on the Map

Sydney Trains has made significant improvement to the way Hazardous Material and Environmental information is presented to employees, FME is core to the spatial solution developed and is utilised to:

• Automate the generation of reports for users that detail potential environmental constraints and safety risks at a worksite,
• Manipulate layers from external sources to tailor them for our user base.

The project implements a location based solution to easily search for, identify and confirm risk and hazard locations in an assured manner by enabling employees to identify risks applicable to a site in a report and present environmental risk information on a map for management. The solution replaces a text based database resulting in improved user experience while also mitigating safety and compliance risks through improved accuracy of information and usability.
