This presentation will demonstrate how the 2016 FME WorkspaceReader can be used to provide the following organizational benefits: • Generate enhanced documentation for individual workspaces • Analyze processes that span multiple workspaces, and • Determine the optimal execution flow of analyzed processes on an FME server Combining these benefits leads to an integrated toolchain for documenting, analyzing and deploying packages of workspaces, all offered as a service. This approach is scalable, as benefits can be realized when managing FME server installments of varying organizational size and complexity, including those running numerous processes supporting different applications. This approach supports and promotes standardization of methodology, which is critical when working with solutions provided by different contractors. Altogether, this approach improves the manageability across the breadth of FME services provided by the system. This presentation will demonstrate numerous tools that FME workbench provides to document the workspace within itself. At the heart of this technique is the FME WorkspaceReader, which enables us to extract key descriptive information from the numerous data sources. From there, complementary tools are used to generate structured documentation. Based on the feature types of the Readers and Writers, dependencies between workspaces in large processes are analyzed and portrayed. Resulting visualizations can be produced, for example using the dot-language, and included in the documentation. From this information, decisions resulting in optimal process flow through parallel processing can be made. Deployment of optimization decisions for benefit realization are then made directly to FME Server - using FME, of course.
