Combined Sewer Overflow Monitoring and Reporting
Presentation Details
We utilize FME to monitor rainfall and CSO system performance. An FME workbench was developed to develop weighted rainfall in the CSO service area and determine if the system is meeting NPDES Permit requirements.
In the event that a CSO occurs, separate FME workspaces were developed to extract rainfall and system data to Excel templates. The templates help define the time, duration, and volume of overflows along with determining if the City has remained in compliance with its permit.
Overall, the processes have reduced analysis and reporting times from 3+ days down to 1 hour. This is critical as the City must post public health information signs at each outfall location within a certain time after overflows occurred.
